Diamond treatment pioneers, Nova Diamonds of Utah, have turned sows ears into silk purses
Thanks to the kindness of Nova President, David Hall, and the help of Branko Deljanin and Gregg Sherman of The European Gem Lab in New York, a
selection of the diamonds, before and after treatment, was given to the writer so that the informtion could be spread further afield.

A follow up article will  appear shortly on The Scottish Web site giving some of the observations and findings, most of which were quickly shared with
the jewellery industry by the above laboratory.

My first hand comment is that, after being involved with coloured diamonds:- natural  treated and synthetic for thirty years, I have never beheld such a
"fluorescent",  appearance in a diamond, even though observed in plain daylight.   The nearest appearance can be compared to that of the so called petrol diamonds which fluoresce very strongly but with a bluish tint in daylight, due to the ultra violet component of sunlight. Description of the Nova diamonds has been compared with the drink Chartreuse, but if you want to see what the stones are really like, then have a look at the colour of the soft drink "Mountain Dew".

The better alternative is to buy one of these diamonds, mount it in a cluster ring with white diamonds, and it will promptly sell to the first person who
sees it and falls in love with its effervescent explosion of lime green.
